Rhododendron 'Rosy Comet' (Vireya)

Life form: Shrub - evergreen
Comments: Habit: Forms an upright stiff shrub to 2m.

Foliage: Stiff leaves, 9cm long by 4.5cm wide with a rolled magin. Pale scales loosely cover the underside of the leaves.

Flowers: Dusky pink, scented in a lax truss of 4-5 flowers.

History: R. tuba x R. praetervisum. Bred by Keith Adams. Raised at Pukeiti. Named by Mia Edmonds - chosen by TRC staff from entries in a 'Name the vireya' competition.

Not readily available in New Zealand.
