Rhododendron 'Alcesta'

Family: Ericaceae (Heath)
Life form: Shrub - evergreen
Comments: Habit: Grows to a height of 1.7m over time as an open, vigorous shrub.
Foliage: Narrow, pointed leaves with green scales below. The new growth is bronzy red in the spring.
Flowers: Appear mid-season and are creamy yellow with a deeper blotch in the throat.These appear in trusses of 3-4.
History: Raised and named by Lord Aberconway in 1933, given the Award of Merit by the RHS in 1935
