Distribution: Japan (Yakushima Island)
Comments: Habit: Compact rounded, slow growning shrub to 2m.
Foliage: 6-21 x 1-3cm, elliptic or linear-lanceolate, usually recurved. Thin indumentum on upper surface persisting for several months, lower surface has a thick, white to tawny, woolly indumentum.
Flowers: 5-10 flowers per umbel, pale rose fading to white, spotted or unspotted, mid season, cover the whole bush.
Cultivation information: Suitable for containers.This is a plant which will grow well in almost every garden in New Zealand. It is easy to grow and impressive. Available from rhododendron nurseries in New Zealand.
