Rhododendron 'Pink Walloper'

Family: Ericaceae (Heath)
Comments: Habit: A large spreading shrub with thick shoots, 4m x 5m.
Foliage: Leaves ovate 200 x 80mm, deep green, with a twist at the apex.
Flowers: Very large open funnel flowers in tall 16 flowered umbel, wavy lobes. Red buds open white with deep pink band around lobes and red spotting inside throat. Flowers in mid November.
History: Raised by Halfdan Lem in Seattle. Many seedlings given away and named by others. This one is almost identical to R. Lems Monarch.
