Comments: Habit: An upright bushy to open shrub. 1.8m x 1.5m.
Foliage: Elliptic leaves, olive green with bronze new growth (actually covered with brown scales initially), 90 x 30mm.
Flowers: Fine bright yellow trumpet shaped plowers. Umbel of 4-6 narrow funnels, 5 wavy lobes, strong yellow green buds open bright yellow, darker in throat. Calyx yellow green, hairy,13mm long. Flowers in November at Pukeiti.
Bark: Attractive mahogany colour.
History: A Bob Scott maddennia hybrid from California in 1968 and sent to Pukeiti by Peter Schick from Fort Bragg.
Occasionally available in New Zealand at select rhododendron nurseries
