Rhododendron 'Pearly Queen'

Family: Ericaceae (Heath)
Comments: Habit: Tall vigorous shrub.
Foliage: Narrow oblong dark leaves.
Flowers: Tall umbels of 14 open funnels, 5 lobed, pink in bud opening satin blush with rose veining and red flare in upper throat. Strong fragrance. Calyx 8-9mm, cream with pink rim.
History: Found as a self sown seedling beside R. White Pearl at Pukeiti, NZ and obviously a seedling from that plant.
