Rhododendron 'Sir Russell Matthews'

Family: Ericaceae (Heath)
Comments: Habit: Bushy upright to tree-like form. 3-4m tall x 2m wide.
Foliage: Dense dark green elliptic leaves, silvery bronze below.
Flowers: Dense umbels of 25-30 tubular funnel flowers, vivid red with darker brown spots very prominent. Anthers white. Flowers in September.
History: Named and registered in 1993 by Pukeiti. Plant lost but propagated and returned to Pukeiti in 2002 by Glyn Church, Woodleigh Nursery.
