Rhododendron cruttwellii (Vireya)

Distribution: Papua New Guinea (East)

Comments: Habit: Compact spreading shrub but can get up to 6m in wild.
Foliage: Leaves obovate or broad elliptic, dark green, semi rigid, scaly below, in 5-7 pseudowhorls.
Flowers: White trumpet shaped 4-9 per umbel, erect at first, strongly fragrant.
History: A Solenovireya from Eastern PNG, first collected by Canon Norman Cruttwell in 1954.
