Taxon

Rhododendron 'Claremont' (Vireya)

.
.
Family: Ericaceae (Heath)
Life form: Shrub - evergreen
Comments: Habit: Medium size vireya.

Foliage: Elliptic flat glossy leaves, pale green scales.

Flowers: trumpet shaped, light purplish pink, yellow pink on tube, flat umbel of 15-17, light scent.

History: R. (laetum x R. zoelleri) x R. jasminiflorum var. punctatum. Raised by Michael Cullinane and named after the Blackmore family home in Hastings.

Further information: Does not appear to have much if any 'laetum x zoelleri' in the cross. Looks like a very good form of R. jasminiflorum rather than a hybrid.
