Comments: Habit: Multi branched shrub to 3m.
Foliage: Green, obovate leaves arranged in unequal pseudowhorls, perssitently scaled underneath.
Flower: Small bright orange - red funnel shaped flowers in an almost vertical open umbel. Repeat flowering.

Note: True species is not common in cultivation. Natural hybrids with R. retusum are often called R sumatranum. These have narrower leaves and more slender red tubular flowers than the true species.
