Comments: Habit: Medium upright habit, 1.5m in 10 years.

Foliage: glossy green and crinkled.

Flowers: late season with a full truss of very dark red flowers and a black dorsal blotch.

History: probably a catawbiense hybrid, raised by B. Mason and introduced by Fromow & Son in 1900.
