Comments: Habit: Upright strong shrub to 4m.
Bark: Peeling reddish brown bark.
Foliage: Large elliptic heavy textured leaves, rugose, greyish below with many brown scales. Dark green but purple silver when new.
Flowers: Huge funnel campanulate white flowers from yellow buds, yellow in throat, lobes recurved, strong scent. 4-9 per umbel, flat, like wheel spokes, 300mm+ across. Very large seed capsules, rich reddish brown.
Further information: R. sinonuttallii is merged with this species.
