Rhododendron 'Fireman Jeff'

Life form: Shrub - evergreen
Comments: Habit: Compact dense shrub which grows to about 1.2m tall.

Foliage: Dark green leaves, lanceolate, orange brown hair layer when young, 75 x 30mm.

Flowers: Dense umbels of 10 flowers, broad funnel shape, vivid red with brown dorsal spots. Calyx 30mm, same colour. October-November flowering and often again in Autumn.

History: R. 'Jean Marie de Montague' X 'Grosclaude'. Cross by Lester Brandt, USA. Introduced in 1970 and registered by J. Eichelser (1976).

Additional notes: Readily available in New Zealand.
